RITTER SPORT

The Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co. KG is a German chocolate manufacturer from Waldenbuch in Baden-Württemberg (Germany), well known for its chocolate brand “Ritter Sport”.

The medium-sized family business, founded in 1912, today employs around 1,500 people.

Every day, over three million colourfully packaged chocolates are produced in the German factory, from where they are exported to over 100 countries worldwide.

1912 – The year the company was founded

1932 – Ritter Sport goes square

1974 – Each variety gets a characteristic colour

1976 – The invention of the snap-open pack

1990 – Ritter Sport founds the economic project Cacaonica in Nicaragua

2010 – Opening of the Colourful Shop in Berlin

2012 – The first own plantation in Nicaragua

2018 – Switch to 100% certified sustainable cocoa
